HBA Benefit Home in Bryson Raises $300,000

(Leander, TX – May 3, 2021)  —  The latest Home Builders Association of Greater Austin’s (HBA) Benefit Home is complete and has raised a record-breaking $300,000.

The four-bedroom, 3,275-square-foot-home — built by Chesmar Homes on a homesite in Bryson fully donated by Johnson Development — broke ground last October and sold in November. Approximately 50 people — Leander City Council members, local chamber representatives, supporters and others — were on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, April 23.

Benefit Home projects are built mostly — if not entirely — from HBA members’ donations of construction management, materials, supplies, labor and monies.

With the Austin-area housing market so robust right now, the timing was perfect for a Benefit Home project. We couldn’t be more grateful to Chesmar Homes, Johnson Development and the many other contractors who donated their services.

– Taylor Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of HBA

The proceeds will be split three ways — $100,000 will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which is the selected charity of Chesmar Homes, and $100,000 will go to HomeAid Austin, Johnson Development’s preferred charity. The remaining $100,000 will go to the HBA to continue funding its projects to support the Austin-area housing market.

These funds will have a tremendous impact on our mission of building new lives for families and individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This large token of generosity represents the homebuilding community’s dedication to providing safe and dignified housing for our most vulnerable neighbors.

– Melissa Nicewarner Daly, Executive Director of HomeAid Austin

Joining Chesmar Homes and Bryson on the project by donating materials, labor and more were Aaction Overhead door, Builders First Source, Carrier, CB Hardware, Christianson Air Conditioning Plumbing, Daltile, Delta, DPIS Builder Service, Green Fiber, Huber Engineered Woods, InCharge, Key Insulation of Austin, Landart America, Lone Star Materials, Mohawk, Mustang Plumbing, Summit Stone Work and Western Pacific.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, as well as improving the quality of life of patients and their families.

HomeAid Austin strives to build new lives for area homeless through housing and community outreach, serving as a liaison between homeless care providers and builders and tradespeople who make in-kind donations of building materials, labor and cash donations.

Founded in 1953, the HBA serves the homebuilding industry by working with government, public, business and community organizations in seven counties — Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Lee, Travis and Williamson.

Last year, Bryson was trice named “community of the year,” winning “Master-Planned Community of the Year Under 600 Acres” at the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin’s MAX Awards, “Best Overall Community 300 to 599 Acres” at the Texas Association of Builder’s Texas Star Awards and “Master-Planned Community of the Year” at the Austin Business Journal’s annual Residential Real Estate Awards.
