What is one thing you want people to know about your community?
It’s happening! La Cima is a big deal for San Marcos – there has not been a community of this type in the history of the city and once it’s all built out with the amenities center including 4 pools, hot-tub, workout facilities, club house and more; 10 miles of hike and bike trails that will connect into the Purgatory Creek Natural Area, and the variety of available homes, lot sizes etc are appealing to multiple types of homebuyers – whether they are looking to down-size or move-up La Cima has it all!Where are you from originally?
I’ve lived in 5 states and have been blessed to call the greater Austin area of Texas home for the past 13.5 years – I’m here to stay!Tell us an interesting detail about you that many might not know?
I love pop music and can sing tons of songs from the 1940’s thru today! When I am in conversation a one-liner from a song that fits the subject generally pops in my head 🙂How did you get into homebuilding?
During and after college my husband and I got into remodeling homes, which turned into custom home building. I’ve been a licensed Realtor in 3 states, but when I arrived in Central Texas 13 years ago I had no contacts to work with – I’ve been so blessed that a major-player Texas builder gave me the opportunity to get into the new home sales part of homebuilding! What do you love about homebuilding?
New home sales is my happy place! I love being the expert on the home I’m demonstrating and guiding people on one of their largest purchases in life. With Wilshire Homes “Build Around You” motto and our superior energy efficiency with the LEED for Homes program as well as integrated Smart Home Features – its a no-brainer decision for most buyers! What is your favorite Model, Floorplan or Feature?
Our model home – the Burkburnett/II offers so much – from the front to backdoor it is open, with 12 ceilings throughout the common areas. The huge island in the kitchen allows for great hosting of groups yet doesn’t feel oversized if it’s just 2 of you! There are a couple of flex spaces – a Study, and you won’t want to miss “the Sunroom” – which is my favorite space in the home – it allows you to feel like you’re outside, yet you’re in the comfort of your home: not too hot, or too cold, humid, no bugs, etc! This home has no wasted space so it lives large! The Owners Retreat is roomy, and its bath includes over-sized split vanities, a big closest, and can be built with a large walk-in shower or a separate tub and shower layout. There is an optional upstairs for those who need a little more room. The square foot range is from 2100 sf to 2700. And an optional 2.5 or 3-car garage is available. Learn more from Wilshire Homes
What experience would you repeat?
Raising my children! What is one of your favorite things to do in your city?
San Marcos has so much to see and do it’s hard to choose. It offers both a small town and big city feel with tons of restaurants, cultural events, hiking, biking, fishing, river activities. I’ve been here 3 years and am still finding new places to experience! What have you heard or listened to lately that has inspired you?
I’ve been getting involved with The Hays CISD Clothes Closet, NB Trail Team 6 and several other local charities. To meet and work with those who give back selflessly to others is very inspiring! What is the best advice you have ever been given?
None of us are perfect – but we get a fresh start everyday to be a better person than we were the day before! What lights you up in life?
Family, Working with the plants in my yard, WATER (creeks, rivers, lakes and the ocean)!Do you have someone in your life that has been an exceptional mentor? Who? Why?
I can’t attribute to just one mentor in my life. My parents, pastors I’ve sat under, my husband, team-leaders at work, friends I’ve met from living all over the country – have all played a part in making me who I am.
