  • Where are you from originally?

I grew up on the east coast, spending my elementary school years in Maryland and junior high in New Jersey.  My family moved to a suburb of Houston in 2000, which is where I finished high school.  I moved to Austin in 2003 for college and it has really become home!  While moving around so much was hard at the time, I am so grateful now for the diverse people and places that I got to spend time around – I think I’m a more open-minded person today because of that!

  • Why are you in homebuilding?

I actually never aspired to be in home building, until I was lucky enough to be recruited by Pacesetter’s current Vice President, Lee Whitaker.  I was working in outside sales for a staffing company, and I met with Lee as a client.  He saw something in me and brought me on board, and I could not be more grateful!  From day one I really felt like I had found what I was meant to be doing.  I know this sounds cheesy, but I really feel that helping families with something as huge as purchasing a new home is a sacred responsibility and it is something that I am honored to do every single day.  Not to mention, I get to work with some of the most incredibly kind, hard-working, and fun people in the world!

  • What are 3 adjectives that describe you best?

Now, that is a question that would probably get dramatically different answers depending on who you asked! I would certainly have to make one of them “silly”.  I love to laugh, even if it is at my own expense, because I am just not a fan of taking any person or situation too seriously.  Next, I would say “dedicated” – to a fault!  I will drive myself crazy to ensure that something is done, and done right. Unfortunately, this also means that sometimes it’s hard for me to ask for help, but it’s something I’m working on!  Finally, I would have to say that I am “driven”. I have a hard time accepting the status quo, which creates this super annoying quality in me to constantly push for more, for the next step, for change.  It makes me better, but it also can occasionally rub people the wrong way!

  • What is one of your favorite things to do in your city?

I feel like the term “foodie” is kind of over used nowadays, so I will just describe myself as someone who LOVES to eat! Getting to try new and interesting restaurants is one of my favorite things to do in Central Texas. I especially love getting to share the experience of eating great food with the people that I love. Anytime I am getting to talk and laugh over a tasty meal, I am a happy camper!

  • What lights you up in life?

I am the most classical example of an extrovert possible, so I am lit up by spending time around other people.  More than anything, that sense of connection that you get when getting to know someone new – or even discovering something about someone that you never knew before – is so powerful. I am lucky enough to work in a career where I constantly get to meet new people, connect with them, and (most importantly) help them.  And let’s not leave out having fun with them, because that’s one of my favorite things, too!
