Buda, TX is located about 16 miles southwest of Austin. The quick commute north on I-35 makes it an easy choice for new home buyers who play or work in Austin proper. On top of that, this small town, rounding out at just over 10,200 people in 2013, is the embodiment of Texas community. The layout of the town still has that “Old Texas” vibe, with the downtown strip looking like something straight out of a movie. But that doesn’t mean this town, established in 1881, is stuck in the past.
What Buda Has to Offer
Did you know that Buda has the most parkland per capita, thus making it the “Outdoor Capital of Texas”? There are 268 acres of park and 3 miles of biking/walking trails available. If your clients are outdoor aficionados, and are seeking a place where they can engage in their favorite outdoor activities, Buda may be the place to call home. There is even a Sportsplex with a number of soccer and baseball fields. There’s no doubt about it; Buda residents like to play.
Buda also boasts a great community event calendar, with different activities going on weekly during the summer, and for most large holidays. Movies in the Park, Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas light walks and more can all be found. There are even farmer’s markets, and a “Budafest” in December to get you into the holiday mood. It’s a fun and activity city, with tons of great neighbors to meet.

In line with the outdoorsy spirit in Buda, Cabela’s is the biggest retail option in the area. Of course, there are major retail outlets like Walmart and Target nearby, as well as H-E-B. There are a variety of dining options, and more are being created every year. Residents also have close access to Hays County medical centers, and a variety of family and private care physicians.
For clients with school-aged children, Buda is a great option because it is part of the Hays Consolidated Independent School District. Given the small size of Buda, the district is comprised of schools that span Buda, Kyle, San Marcos, and Niederwald. There are 13 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, and 4 high schools to choose from, making it easy to find a school close to your clients’ new home.
But the best part about Buda, especially for new home buyers, is the extensive variety of new home builders and communities in the area. In addition, Buda boasts some of the most affordable new homes, in contrast to a number of Austin suburbs. Most of the 35 or so communities are well under $300,000, and come with a great city in an active, beautiful location. Show your clients their favorite new home builder in Buda, and find them a home they can love at a price they can actually afford.
