Temple, TX is a growing city, boasting over 70,000 people as of 2016. While the population grows along with its many amenities, Temple offers a number of small city benefits that many home buyers can enjoy. About 70 miles north of Austin and about 40 miles south of Waco, Temple offers access to many of Texas’s main hubs.
Life in Temple
Because of its central location, Temple has become quite the place to live. Offering many “big city” luxuries, like high end shopping malls and outlets, there’s a lot you can do in the area. From a massive water park to a handful of art galleries and museums to tons of festivals, the area has something for everyone. The historic downtown area also offers a unique “small town” feel, complete with historic tours, buildings, and more.
Parents and kids also love the Temple Independent School District, with fifteen high-rated schools. With five community parks and nearly 20 neighborhood parks, there are plenty of places to play with the kids after school. Splash pads, skate parks, and gardens are also easily accessible all over the city.
Dinner time in Temple is a breeze, with dozens of unique, local restaurants to choose from, as well as “tried and true” chain favorites. Breweries, saloons, and wine bars, as well the historic district offer fun nightlife. For everyday needs, Temple residents have quick access to two H-E-B’s, Target, and many other large chain stores.
Families and individuals also have access to award-winning healthcare in the area. From Scott & White Medical Center, McLane Children’s Scott & White Hospital, and Central Texas VA Health, there are plenty of options for care. Family practitioners, dentists, and veterinarians are plentiful, as well.
The Temple area offers a number of jobs in a variety of industries, from manufacturing, logistics, health, aviation, and technology. Right off I-35, commuters can also make a quick trip to neighboring areas for work.
Because Temple offers residents so much without the crush of a sprawling downtown area like Austin, buyers are setting their sights on the area.
