Life in Northlake
Northlake is a tiny community about an hour northeast of downtown Dallas. True to its name, it sits north of Fort Worth above Grapevine Lake near Flower Mound.
Northlake is a relatively new town with nearly 2,000 residents at the 2010 U.S. census. Its most recent estimated population was over 3,600 in 2018. Northlake was incorporated in the early 1960s, but experienced very little residential development in the years to come. When Alliance Airport a few miles south was built in the 1990s, the community grew to nearly 1,000 residents. Homebuyers looking for a town on the rise near the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex will appreciate Northlake’s proximity and small, close-knit community.
Family Living Made Easy in Northlake
Parents in particular will appreciate some of Northlake’s benefits. Students who live in Northlake attend schools in the Northwest Independent School District, a highly-rated school system of 28 schools and over 23,000 students. The school district includes 6 high schools, 5 middle schools, and 17 elementary or early education schools. Northwest ISD earned an A rating for the 2017-18 school year, performing well in student achievement, school progress, and student performance. After high school, students have several options for higher education nearby. Tarrant County College is south of Northlake, while University of North Texas in Denton is just 15 minutes north. There’s also the Flower Mound branch of North Central Texas College about half an hour east.
Northlake is also home to or close by several beautiful, well-kept city parks. Grapevine Lake is a short drive away, so Northlake residents can enjoy hiking trails, fishing, picnicking, or boating with the family. And if you have a furry friend that loves to run around outside on warm Texas days, Canyon Falls Dog Park is a popular park north of Cross Timbers Road. If parks aren’t your type of outdoor activity, head to DFW Adventure Park that’s southwest of the Grapevine Recreational Area. This theme park offers paintball, ATV rides, laser tag, and ziplining. Just west of DFW Adventure Park is the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. This massive race track and arena off I-35 West frequently hosts events, including NASCAR and IndyCar. It’s a must-see attraction for any racing fan or Texas resident.
