Living Well in Prosper

Prosper is a close-knit community about half an hour north of downtown Dallas. It’s a quiet, beautiful area that families, young couples, and retirees will love.

Prosper was first settled in the mid 1800s, drawing people to the area with its fertile prairie soil. After the turn of the century, the area was built as a stop on the St. Louis, San Francisco and Texas Railway. Railroad officials are credited with naming the town Prosper after its generous yield of crops that year. Prosper was incorporated in 1914. Its population of 500 residents enjoyed electricity, paved roads, and several small businesses. Though the population dipped during the Great Depression, it rose again by 1980 to 675. By the year 2000 the population had reached almost 2,100. At the last census in 2010 it was over 9,400 residents. Prosper is poised to see even more growth in the years to come, as the population increases to over 26,000 people.
