Lago Mar Residents Get Peek at America’s Largest Crystal Lagoons® Amenity By Length

(Texas City – June 3, 2020) Residents of Lago Mar got their first taste of living the “lagoon life” Saturday during a preview of the Crystal Lagoons® amenity opening this year in the Texas City community.
The 12-acre lagoon, which stretches more than a quarter mile end-to-end, is the largest in the nation by length and by waterfront shoreline.
Residents, builder partners, local officials and others attending the invitation-only event were able to sit along the white-sand beach and swim the turquoise waters of the lagoon. Water shows and sky divers added to the fun.

The lagoon is the signature feature of a 100-acre mixed-use entertainment district being built at the entrance to Lago Mar. Future phases of development around the lagoon are planned to include hotels, condo buildings, retail, dining, entertainment, as well as a separate pay-for-access beach club with multiple beaches for the general public with a cabana pool, a two-story swim-up bar on an island, a kid’s beach with water features, a floating obstacle course and a world-class watersports facility including kayaks, paddleboards and small sailboats. Also planned is an event center with a beachfront event lawn for corporate events, weddings and concerts.

The Lago Mar lagoon is approximately six times larger than Land Tejas’ first Crystal Lagoons amenity, which opened in 2018 in the master-planned community of Balmoral in Humble. The lagoon in Lago Mar offers more than a mile of shoreline — more than any other Crystal Lagoons amenity in the nation. It holds 24 million gallons of water and the lagoon’s liner system is large enough to cover the entire Houston Galleria mall or 14 NFL football fields. The lagoon surface is equivalent to an approximate 1,350 home swimming pools.
Fifteen homebuilders offer designs in Lago Mar priced from the $200,000s to the $500,000s. In addition to the resident-designated portion of the lagoon and the clubhouse, residents also enjoy a resort pool, clubhouse, workout facilities, playgrounds and a GreenBoLT alternative transportation path for golf carts and electric bikes. Upon completion, Lago Mar will be home to approximately 14,000 residents.
