  • What is your best advice for new home buyers?

The most common mistake I hear is people ask “what is your incentive” before “do you have a plan that might work for me?” Every builder has different pricing on every item in the homes they build, which is why you can’t compare incentive to incentive. Buyers should first find a home that works for them, then price it out accordingly to their needs and wants, then they can compare what they get with their incentive.

  • Where are you from originally?

Houston, TX – Jersey Village area.
  • What is your favorite podcast?

The School of Greatness – Lewis Howes.
  • What lights you up in life?

My family – I’ve been blessed to marry my high school sweetheart Haley, and we have two beautiful daughters Payton (8) and Paige (5).
  • Tell us an interesting detail about you that many might not know?

Before I worked in real estate, I was going to go into tech. I built my first computer when I was 9 years old off an allowance I saved. I went home and burned out the processor by not installing the heat sink properly. I went back to Fry Electronics and they gave me a free one since they never had a 9 year old build a computer. I wrote my first program in Visual Basic when I was 11.
  • How did you get into homebuilding?

When I was in college I worked for a student housing developer out of Chicago, IL as an un-paid intern who managed construction on units. I loved every minute of it.. and worked many 15 hour days. When I graduated I came back to Houston and started flipping single family homes – this was in 2010 when the market was recovering from the downturn. I had a lot of assets but no buyers… then my wife told me we were having our first baby – and I moved into home building. Initially I interviewed for land development. When they told me I got the job, I asked what it paid.. and they said you’re going into sales. Haven’t looked back since!
  • What do you love about homebuilding?

Connecting with people and making their dreams become reality. The planning, implementation, and the final product over the span of 3/4 a year is amazing. I also enjoy the land planning and development aspect of the business, along with construction. It’s the best of both worlds for me.
  • What experience would you repeat?

Working on a self developed land deal and eventually building a home in that community. From the creation of the MUD district, HOA, deed restrictions, and land planning, I really enjoyed being apart of that process.
  • What are 3 adjectives that describe you best?

    Decisive, Fast & Organized.
  • What is your favorite Model, Floorplan or Feature?

617 by Highland Homes – our previous model home floorplan in Valencia at Rock Creek to be built on 80’+ homesites. The design, flow, and customization options on this plan are unprecedented.
  • What is one of your favorite things to do in your city?

Go downtown to the Astros or Rockets game and take in everything Houston has to offer.
  • What is one thing you want people to know about your community?

Bridgeland is a lifestyle and is designed to live in harmony with nature. I’ve lived in Cypress for 10 years and never fully understood Bridgeland until I started building homes here. The developer spares no expense and does not cut corners, and I think it shows as you drive through the community. Our residents are truly happy living here, and that is something myself and our entire Highland Homes Bridgeland Team takes pride in.
  • What have you heard or listened to lately that has inspired you?

Hands down the David Goggins, “Can’t Hurt Me” Audio book. David has an amazing story about overcoming any adversity in his life, and puts that mindset and attitude into his own words. Listening to his story on his childhood to his progression into becoming a Navy SEAL, and what it truly takes to get there is simply amazing. To know there are men and women who push their physical & mental limits to prepare to go fight battles so we can rest easy at night is truly inspiring, and something I suggest everyone listen too.
  • What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Work smarter, not harder – something my Dad always told me growing up.
  • Do you have someone in your life that has been an exceptional mentor? Who? Why?

My Dad has mentored me my whole life and is truly a great person that I respect dearly. He has shown me that hard work pays off, treat every customer like they are your only customer, and what it means to give to others.
