What is your best advice for new home buyers?
The best time to buy a house is always a long time ago. The next best time is now! The longer you wait, the more it will cost you.
Where are you from originally?
My parents are from Guyana, South America (Guyanese – West Indian) but I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Tell us an interesting detail about you that many might not know?
I’m a huge New Orleans Pelicans fan and I’m convinced they will be the #1 Team in the NBA again at some point this upcoming season.
On a separate note, I’m currently addicted to boba tea. If you have not tried TEA-AMO yet, you should definitely give it a try. Everything on their menu is amazing.
How did you get into homebuilding?
I started in commercial real estate in Louisiana shortly after graduating with an MBA from Southeastern Louisiana University. As a fresh college graduate, it took a little longer than I would have liked to get paid in commercial real estate so, I transitioned into residential. My mentor at the time told me if I wanted to be the best, I should work with the best. After doing some research, one of the best real estate teams in the Nation at the time was the Joe Rothchild Team. I persistently reached out to them until they created a position for me and brought me to Houston. As a builder marketing specialist with the Rothchild Team, I was on the road 6-8 hours per day visiting with different sales counselors all over the Greater Houston Metro area. That position was great because I learned about all of the different areas of Houston, got to meet a bunch of great people, and learned all about the big homebuilding companies. I ended up having a right ankle injury playing basketball (my driving foot) and I could no longer be on the road like the position demanded so I had to look into other options. After speaking with several sales counselors, I was convinced the builder world was the right world for me.
What do you love about homebuilding?
My goal in life is to leave a significant positive impact any way I can and every day I wear a wristband that reads “Leave a Legacy”. This position helps me do that. It’s very rewarding because neighborhoods that I have helped build will still be around long after I’m gone. There is no more land being created and I’m helping to build homes on that land that will last for generations.
What is one thing you want people to know about your community?
Harvest Green is the only community in the nation that I know of with an on-site farm. The whole community is built around an organic, green lifestyle. Our Village Farm was just awarded #1 Amenity in all of Texas and The Farmhouse was also awarded #1 Amenity Center in all of Texas. Harvest Green is more than a neighborhood where you have a house and you just live there and don’t have an opportunity to interact with your neighbors. It’s a community – a village. We have a full-time Lifestyle Director who hosts multiple events per month to bring the community together and serves as an opportunity to meet and interact with your neighbors. There are block parties, movies on the lawn, holiday celebrations, sack jumps, goat yoga, face painting classes, BINGO, Charitable 5k Walk/Run events, and more! In addition to the Lifestyle Director, there is a full-time Fitness Director. Residents are currently offered 5 free fitness classes each week! There are yoga classes, HIIT training, and personal training, just to name a few. Outside of the community, just minutes away, is Waterview Town Center, anchored by an H-E-B and Target as well as all of the shopping and dining options anyone could possibly need and want.
