Missouri City Living
Missouri City is just half an hour southwest of downtown Houston with an estimated population of 75,000 residents. Though it’s close to major highways and easy to get to Houston, Missouri City has plenty to offer on its own.
The Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railway (BBB&C) came through what is now the northern part of the city in 1853. After a depot was built in the early 1900s, and the Sugar Land Railroad was built beside TX-6, many residents and workers used the lines to commute to other towns. Access to the railroads allowed Missouri City to expand and grow.

Outdoor Experiences and Daily Life in Missouri City
Missouri City maintains and operates 20 developed parks in the community. Buffalo Run Park is a popular park, thanks to its location on several lakes, boat launch area, fishing piers, and trails. Hunters Glen Park is a great place for families to walk in the morning or evening. Plus, it has sports facilities, playgrounds, and splash pads to beat the Texas heat. Homebuyers can also check out Community Park, which has a disc golf course, playground zipline, a skatepark, and an open air amphitheater. If your clients prefer golf to disc golf, they’ll enjoy the golf courses at Quail Valley, not far from Community Park. The El Dorado golf course is a modern course with beautiful rolling terrain, while La Quinta golf course is a classic course with elevated greens.

After spending a day golfing or exploring Missouri City’s parks, families can head to one of the city’s local eateries for a drink and a bite. Casa Vaqueros Mexican Grill Restaurant is a down-to-earth neighborhood joint. Or, head to Hoggs N’ Chicks, an American restaurant that serves comfort food in an eclectic atmosphere. Hoggs N’ Chicks is just off TX-6 by Kitty Hollow Park.
There are several convenient shopping spots across the highway, like H-E-B, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and the Sienna Branch of the Fort Bend County Library system. Further up TX-6 is Missouri City Shopping Center, should homebuyers need to run errands at stores like Target, Hobby Lobby, or Lowe’s. Parents can appreciate Missouri City’s conveniences, too. Several schools are easily accessible in safe neighborhoods, like Quail Valley Elementary School, The Towne Creek School, and Southminster School. Missouri City schools are served by two districts: Fort Bend Independent School District, which has over 70 schools and 75,000 students, and the larger Houston Independent School District, which has nearly 300 schools and over 213,000 students.
