Fastest Growing City in Houston: Pearland
Pearland is the third-largest city in the Houston metropolitan area. From 2000 to 2010, it was ranked the fastest-growing city and the second fastest-growing city in the state of Texas. If your homebuyers are looking for a large, diverse community with plenty to offer just half an hour south of downtown Houston, show them Pearland.
Pearland was established in the late 1890s after it became a siding switch on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway in 1882. The community was first named Mark Belt, but was changed to Pearland in 1893, thanks to the many pear trees in the area. Pearland’s population was about 400 in 1914. By 1989, the town’s population had grown to nearly 16,000 thanks to its proximity to Houston. Today, the estimated population is over 110,000 residents.
