Tomball: Old-Fashioned Charm

Tomball is a little town about an hour northeast from Houston with over 11,000 residents. Founded in the early 1900s and named after local congressman Thomas Henry Ball, the city of Tomball has plenty of shopping, outdoor activities, and local eateries for visitors and potential homebuyers to explore.

Tomball is home to quite a few antique shops and vintage stores, many of which are located off Main and Cherry Street. Birds of a Feather Antiques & Vintage Marketplace is chock full of home decor that will please vintage lovers. Those who love to look through vintage clothing and books must check out Elite Antiques & Books. And antique furniture aficionados are sure to find something they adore at Cherry Street Antiques.

After you’ve had your fill of browsing collectibles and antiques, you can easily walk down Main or Cherry Street to choose from one of Tomball’s highly-rated restaurants. Tejas Chocolate+Barbecue offers both traditional pit-fired BBQ and craft chocolates. Or, venture up north near Burroughs Park, where Mel’s Country Cafe serves heaping plates of burgers, catfish and chicken-fried steak. Further south off TX-249 is Adriatic Cafe Italian Grill, conveniently located near popular neighborhood spots like NorthPoint East Community Pool and Regal Lone Star movie theater. Just east of this restaurant and shopping area is Gleannloch Pines Golf Club, one of the best-rated golf spots in Tomball.

Balancing Fun and Family in Tomball

Are your homebuyers looking for a city that regularly hosts fun events for the whole family? The Tomball German Heritage Festival is held in the spring. Families can browse street vendors, a petting zoo, and arts and crafts, not to mention traditional German music, food, and drink. Looking for a different kind of festival? Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival has music, classic Southern food, and fun activities to honor the tasty crawfish. No need to worry if you’ve missed out on one of these events. Homebuyers can pick their own fruit at Matt Family Orchard off Mueschke Road, or Fresh Picking Farm & Garden further north off Waller-Tomball Road. There’s also the historic Railroad Depot that hosts the German Festival and Tomball Texas Music Festival, in addition to tours and museum exhibits.

Tomball isn’t all fun and games, though. They mean business, too. Tomball Independent School District has over 15,000 students in its 20 schools, and has a great rating on TXschools.gov for performance, achievement and progress. Tomball also has several private schools in the area for grades PK-8, 9-12, and K-12.

The old-fashioned historic charm of Tomball has something for everyone. If your clients are looking for a smaller city with good food, shopping, schools, and activities, show them what Tomball has to offer today.
