I can wiggle my ears – one at a time! haha
Why are you in homebuilding?
I guess you can say I got into homebuilding by accident. After teaching for over 7 years, I needed a change. A friend suggested I look into the homebuilding industry. I began as a Sales Assistant and then moved into the Onsite Sales Counselor role. I finally found my perfect fit as the Online Sales Counselor and have loved it ever since!
What experience would you repeat?
Going to Ireland! This was one of the most amazing trips I’ve ever taken. I met lifelong friends, made a ton of amazing memories and will forever have great stories to share…including getting locked in a pub until 6 am!

Creative, Thoughtful, Reliable
What is one of your favorite things to do in your city?
Dinners at The Barn Door.
What is your favorite Model, Floorplan or Feature?
In our Express line, the Walsh is my favorite plan – the high ceiling in the family room makes the home feel very open. In our DR Horton line, I absolutely LOVE the Caspian floorplan! I actually loved it so much, I bought one for myself! In our Emerald line, the Plainfield is one of my favorites. I love the open feeling and the quick access to the utility room from the master closet – how clever and convenient!
What have you heard or listened to lately that has inspired you?
This isn’t something I’ve heard recently, but it is something I think about each and every day. It comes from a book Drew Barrymore wrote entitled, “Find it in Everything” where she shares photos of hearts in everyday situations – leaves, clouds, paper – and reminds us that love is all around. This book is especially meaningful to me because my sweet friend Jodi lived this motto to the fullest and though she has left this Earth to her new home in Heaven, every time I see a heart-shaped leaf on the sidewalk or even a spot on a puppy in the shape of a heart, I think of her and all of the goodness she brought to so many people’s lives. She is missed but whenever I am having a difficult day, I look for the love all around and am reminded she is still with us in our hearts. Find “IT” in everything.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
You can admire many traits about other people, but at the end of the day – always be yourself. ~K. Bessette
What lights you up in life?
Helping others – whether at work or volunteering in my free time.
Do you have someone in your life that has been an exceptional mentor? Who? Why?
Luckily, I have several people in my life that have been amazing mentors so it is hard to choose just one, but I would have to say since I joined the homebuilding industry, Bill Teer (Emerald Sales Manager) has been someone I’ve admired from day one. His knowledge of the industry, ability to see situations from various angles, his drive to make the Emerald brand standout and his commitment to D.R. Horton for over 20 years. I learn something new from him almost every week. If I have ever gotten stuck on something and needed advice or an outside opinion, he always offers sound advice. Our company is lucky and blessed to have him.
