  • How did you get into real estate?

I get asked often how I got into real estate. The real answer is I truly owe it to being young and naive. After high school I wasn’t fully sure what I wanted to do, but I knew one thing for certain, I wasn’t going to go to college and amass student loan debt it I had no idea what I wanted to study. Thankfully I’ve always been good about following my intuition and followed a calling into real estate. With no family in the industry I had someone I knew at the time that introduced me to a 20 year veteran who offered to meet with me. He was very generous with his time and sat with me for a few hours and we discussed what a potential real estate career looked like and what it takes to be successful. I am very thankful for the knowledge and wisdom he shared with me and truly believe it set me up for the right expectations upon getting licensed. After all, this is not what you see on TV!

  • What do you love about the industry?

The people! Everyday is different. You never know walking into a listing what it is you’re really walking into. Each day, each home and each client is different and they all come with their own stories. I love connecting with homeowners and having the opportunity to play a small but impactful role in their lives.

  • Where are you from originally?

I’m a proud San Antonio local and grew up on the Northeast side in Converse and graduated from Judson High School. After high school I stayed in the area and joined City Council serving as Councilman for several years and eventually as Mayor Pro Tem. It was a wonderful experience and to this day, I credit that experience with giving me many of the skills that contributed to my success in Real Estate.

I absolutely love the San Antonio region. I tell my out-of-town clients all the time that this is a great place to call home. It’s both culturally and economically diverse, the people are friendly, the cost of living is still lower compared to many major markets and overall it’s still pretty easy to get around. What’s not to love? I love San Antonio and have no plans to go anywhere else!

  • Which Home Builders have you had a great experience working with in the last 12 months?

One of the best things about selling real estate in San Antonio is the fact that we have one of the best Realtor/Builder relationships in the country. Talking to agents from all over, they’re amazed and often times jealous of how well the builders and Realtors work together in San Antonio. We’re very lucky to work in an area where we can easily work together to help the client and have the trust factor already built in. That’s not always the case in other parts of the country and I hope it’s something we never take for granted.

  • What is the best advice you have ever been given?

You don’t need to have a title to be a leader. Just lead and the rest will follow.

  • In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?

Treat others the way you want to be treated.

  • What experience would you repeat?

Serving as Chairman of the Board of Realtors.

In 2019, I had the opportunity to serve as Chairman to the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR). It definitely comes with its challenges and it’s overwhelming at times, but I wouldn’t trade the opportunity for anything. It was such a rewarding experience to give back to industry that has given so much to me and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
