  • What is your best advice for new home buyers?

Purchasing a home is a big decision and can often take a lot of time and energy. Before you start driving around town and looking at model homes, it’s important to think about what’s important to you in a home and differentiate between what you need and what you want. It’s important to assess your budget and understand what is a reasonable monthly payment for your new home and whether you are willing to make some changes in your life in order to purchase the home that you love. A Realtor who is familiar with the new home market in San Antonio is going to save you a lot of time and energy. Let them do a lot of the leg work in scoping out what is available in your preferred area and budget, then they can set appointments with builders who have the right homes available for you.

You want a home builder who you trust and who you feel comfortable with. Do they bring to the table what is important to you in a home? Do they bring to the table what is important to you in a home-buying experience? Do they take ample time to get to know you and provide a personalized recommendation about what home or floor plan is the best fit for your needs and wants? Are they friendly and informative? There is nothing like making one of the largest purchases of your lifetime and feeling frustrated and angry in the process because your builder doesn’t set proper expectations or communicate openly and effectively. Purchasing a home is about way more than just price. It’s also about the experience and the memories that are built through the process.

  • Tell us an interesting detail about you that many might not know?

I love performing. As an only child, I was always on stage, whether it was with an actual production or as the center of attention at a family gathering. I carried that love of theater and acting into my adulthood, and played a variety of characters. I enjoy mastering new accents and building my character so that it is natural and believable. Community theatre is like a second family, and it is fun to be a little dramatic sometimes! I have been an avid country-western-style dancer for many years, and I also enjoy singing karaoke.

  • What do you love about homebuilding?

I love helping people achieve their dreams of owning a brand new home and being a positive part of the process for them. I love the variety of situations that I get the opportunity to learn about and grow from.

  • How did you get into homebuilding?

I was an Administrative Manager for a large land survey company for more than a decade. New home builders comprised the majority of customers who I worked with daily. I really wanted more in my life, rather than sitting at a desk all day, working on a computer. When I considered new home sales, I reached out to many of my contacts to educate me about the reality of the position, and I researched for two years because it was a very big decision and I wanted to be in the right position to make the transition. It was actually one of my dancing partners who referred me to the interview that started my career.

  • What are 3 adjectives that describe you best?

    Friendly, Genuine, and Perceptive

  • What is your favorite Model, Floorplan or Feature?

The Yellowstone floor plan is my personal favorite here in Hunters Ranch. Though I typically steer away from two-story homes, this one is an exception. I love the entry. It’s inviting and yet still private. The kitchen has so much counter area and a big island that overlooks the family room. The family room has a tall vaulted ceiling with an overlook from the game room, and the stairs make a big statement, especially when adorned with an iron railing. It has 3 spacious bedrooms, and the game room is huge. It’s not overkill, but just the right amount of space. All the bedrooms have privacy. The primary bedroom is on the first floor, and the 2 upstairs are split from each other. It’s a really great floor plan.

  • What lights you up in life?

Two things light up my life more than anything else: spending time with the people I love and helping people. I always want to be a positive influence on people’s hearts and lives, and I gain satisfaction in my heart when I have the opportunity to educate and counsel, lead, and guide. Knowing that I have a wonderful family at the end of the day and that we support each other through the ins and outs of life makes me feel so happy.

  • What is one thing you want people to know about your community?

Hunters Ranch seems like it is way outside of San Antonio, but actually, it’s only about 25 minutes from the airport. It’s easy access to 1604 and Loop 410 and downtown. There are big employers located less than 5 minutes from the community, such as Microsoft, Citibank Operations Center, and UT Health Science Center. Being in Medina County, tax rates are at a low of 2.03%. Hunters Ranch is located within Medina Valley ISD, an A-rated school district, and with an elementary school and middle school adjacent to the community, families will enjoy an easy commute to and from school.  Amenities include a sparkling swimming pool and nearby nature trails for hiking and biking.

  • Do you have someone in your life that has been an exceptional mentor? Who? Why?

My grandmother, Wini, was my rock and angel until she left the planet. She showed me unfaltering love that I was able to give to others later in my life. She was incredibly wise in many ways, and I carry much of her heart and spirit as I walk through life and have relationships today. It wasn’t until very late in my life that I finally found my first real role model, the person who I highly respect and aspire to be more like. Ken Gezella, currently VP of Sales for First America Homes, has taught me most of what I know about new home sales over the last seven years. He leads with respect for people, an objective point of view to always find more facts before judgment, and is fair to do what’s right. I am grateful to finally have a person in my daily life that leads my way by his example.
