New Home Communities Booming on San Antonio’s Southside

For the past several years, headlines about the booming housing market in Texas have dominated the front pages… and San Antonio being one of the fastest growing cities in the United States with a population growth rate of 20.46% since 2010.

When you take a closer look at which direction San Antonio is expanding, the growth of the city’s Southside is clear. With recent announcements like the brand new $70mm Tech Port Center and Arena being constructed, the city will soon be home to a world-class tech hub and entertainment venue, the first of its kind in San Antonio.

With the rising demand for housing in the area, homebuilders have been quick to respond by offering new communities in the Southside. These builders are offering new homes with modern designs, spacious floor plans, and a wide range of amenities to cater to the needs of different buyers. From master-planned communities to various economic development projects, the overall area is attracting more home buyers than ever before. According to industry analytics firm Zonda, which tracks the housing market in the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area, the Southwest and Southside of San Antonio reported 4,043 annual starts. This area makes up 17.9% of the total market share of new home growth in San Antonio.
