Is there a fun historical fact about the land on which your community sits?
- August Fields was named after August Timmermann Sr. August came to the United States at the age of 2 with his sisters Freiderika and Johanne, accompanied by their parents Christian and Willhelmine (Brandt) Timmermann. August was born in Lutgenade, Braunschweig Germany in 1854. The Timmerman family boarded the ship E. Von Beaulieu in Bremen, Germany, and arrived in Galveston, TX on January 1, 1857.August grew up in the Hortontown area where he attended school. He married Anna Kellerman on Dec 4, 1880, and they moved to a farm near Freiheit. August purchased the land where August Fields is located on October 2, 1899, from the Bock family, and they built a home on the land. August’s daughter, Leonie, lived in the home until her death in 1977. Terrell Timmermann, August’s great-grandson, purchased the land from Leonie’s estate in 1978. Terrell and his wife, Geraldine, held the land until it was sold and developed into August Fields in 2019.
